2010 Year End Report
Town Hall Maintenance Committee 2010 Year End Report The committee was formed and met for the first time in the fall of 2009. It required a couple of meetings to decide how we would operate as a committee. We decided on a process that would start with assembling a list of all the known deficiencies in the building. We also decided on a method to prioritize the items on the list. The priorities would be based on the following categories: Improving the building operating efficiency Safety concerns Building code compliance Amenities and aesthetics We organized and prioritized the list by these categories. Where it was appropriate we grouped items on the list into projects. In the spring of 2010 we began to recommend these projects to the Town Board for approval prior to beginning the actual work. In 2010 we recommended the Town take on 3 significant projects. They were: Installation of the new heating system and foundation/floor insulation Ceiling ventilation and insulation West ramp and front entrance replacement The Town Board approved them and they will all be completed by year-end. The total cost of the 3 projects was about $43,000. In addition to these 3 projects the town staff completed a variety of minor maintenance efforts that would fall into the category of on-going minor repairs. As the Committee proceeds into 2011 we anticipate following the same process we did for 2010. At our meeting on December 7th 2010 we began that process. We anticipate that the first couple of projects will be relatively easy to decide on and recommend but as we work our way down the list some of the efforts could be costly and the benefits could be questionable. When we reach that point the Committee’s may have served its original purpose and may no longer be needed. We will have to address that when the time comes. Town Hall Maintenance Committee
