TOWN OF BARNES

TOWN ROADS & RIGHT OF WAY COMMITTEE MEETING

August 22, 2008

The meeting was called to order at 2:30 PM by Chairman, Greg Martin. 

Roll call was taken.  Those present were committee members:  Mitch McGee, Jack Meinke, Dick Webb, Greg Martin and Jerry Witt.  Also attending was non-member Duke Marten.

The agenda was read and approved.  Agenda was posted in accordance with State Statutes.

Discussion was held on Martin Road project.  The project has two concerns.  One is the stretch of road from Pease Road to the corner of Windrose Five road.  A motion by Dick and seconded by Mitch that the reconstruction go to 66 feet if the power company is going to bury the power line.  If the power company is not going to bury the power line, the road shall be reconstructed at 3 rods.  Motion carried.

The second issue involves a portion of road going by Duke Marten’s home.  This will involve the removal of some large pine trees.  Duke has indicated that he did not care to have those trees removed. 

A motion to open the floor for comment was made by Jack and seconded by Dick.Duke Marten presented a proposal that he would accept the removal of the trees if the reconstruction would in fact straighten the road.  Further discussion indicated that this would be a desirable solution.

A motion by Dick, and seconded by Jack to pursue the proposal offered by Duke.  This will involve obtaining easements to accomplish said goal.  Motion carried.  It was noted that this may delay the time schedule.

A motion to close the floor was made by Mitch and seconded by Jack.  Motion carried.

A motion to adjourn was made by Dick and seconded by Mitch.  Motion Carried.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:30 pm.
