Special Town Board Meeting January 6, 2011
MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL TOWN BOARD MEETING Of January 6, 2011 Chair Lu Peet called the Special Town Board Meeting to order at 5:00PM. Roll call was taken and all were present except Donna Porter. Clerk-Treasurer Brustad verified the meeting was posted as required. The agenda for the meeting is as follows: Agenda 1) Closed Session. The Town Board of the Town of Barnes will meet in regular session to go into a closed session pursuant to State Statute 19.85(c) “considering employment, promotion, compensation or performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility. The board will reconvene to the regular session immediately after the closed session. 2) Discussion and possible amendments to the 2010 Budget Motion (Meinke/Webb) to go into closed session pursuant to State Statute 19.85(c) “considering employment, promotion, compensation or performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility. Roll call vote taken and all present responded yes. Motion carried. The Board adjourned to closed session at 5:02 PM. Motion (Webb/Meinke) to adjourn to the open session. Motion carried. The board returned to the regular open session at 6:07PM. There were no motions made in closed session and the board discussed only items pertaining to the statute listed. Motion (Webb/Meinke) to amend the 2011 budget for highway wages adding $40,000.00 and taking this amount out of roadwork outlay. This will be the total including employer paid benefits available to part-time employees. Roll call vote taken and all responded yes. Motion carried. Motion (McGee/Webb) to offer Jerry Witt part-time employment at a wage of $22.00 per hour. Roll call vote taken and all responded yes. Motion carried. Motion (Webb/Meinke) to offer Gene Ratzel the Transfer Site fill-in or substitute position. Roll call vote taken and all responded yes. Motion carried. Motion (Peet/McGee) to pay the substitute transfer site attendant $12.00/hour. Roll call vote taken and all responded yes. Motion carried. The 2010 Budget was discussed and only one item found to need an amendment. Monies for the annual fireworks for 2010 were paid in early 2010 and again in November $11,000.00 was paid for the 2011 fireworks. The 2011 budget may need to be amended but will be looked at in the latter part of the year. Motion (Webb/Meinke) to amend the 2010 budget adding $11,000.00 from cash reserves to culture and recreation for the payment in November for the 2011 fireworks. Roll call vote taken and all responded yes. Motion carried. Motion (Webb/Meinke) to adjourn the meeting of January 6, 2011. Motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 6:35PM.
