TOWN OF BARNES

MINUTES OF THE

SPECIAL TOWN BOARD MEETING

Thursday, October 11, 2007

Chairman Collyard called the Special Town Board Meeting to order at 5:35PM.  All Board Members were present (Webb at 5:40). The Agenda for the meeting was as follows:

1)                   Discussion on participation in the LUCA (census) program.

2)                   The Board will go over budget figures for the 2008 budget.

3)                   Closed Session. The Town Board will go into closed session pursuant to State Statute 19.85(c) for considering employment, promotion, compensation or performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility. The Board will then reconvene to the regular session following the closed session.

Brustad had previously passed out a brochure explaining the LUCA program.  She polled the members of the Clerklist also and the majority were not participating.  That very day a Census worker came into the office and she asked her what her thoughts were on participating or not.  She felt Bayfield County’s address system was up to date so she thought the Town did not need to participate.  The census workers would still be counting as they normally would in 2010 no matter what the town does. Board members concurred the Town did not need to participate.

The Board then continued to go over additional expenses for the 2008 budget.

Motion (Webb/Porter) to go into closed session pursuant to State Statute 19.85(c) for considering employment, promotion, compensation or performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility.  This is to discuss the performance evaluation of a salaried employee. Roll call vote taken: Webb-yes, Collyard-yes, Meinke-yes, McGee-yes, Porter-yes, Motion carried.

Collyard called the closed session to order at 6:45PM.  There were no decisions made in closed session. Only those issues pertaining to State Statute 19.85 (c) were discussed.  Motion (Meinke/Porter) to adjourn the closed session and return to the open session. Motion carried.

Collyard called the regular open session back to order at 7:40PM.

Motion(Porter/Meinke) to give the part-time snow plow operators a 5% raise going from $12.00 per hour to $12.60 per hour. Roll call vote taken: McGee-yes, Porter-yes, Meinke-yes, Webb-yes, Collyard-yes. Motion carried.
