TOWN OF BARNES

MINUTES OF THE

SPECIAL TOWN BOARD MEETING

Of February 2, 2009

Chairman Collyard called the Special Town Board Meeting to order at 3:35PM. The agenda for the meeting is as follows:

Agenda

1)                   Update on  David Hoberg’s assessment of his property on Peninsula Road

2)                   Discussion on Janitorial Position

3)                   Closed Session: The Town Board of the Town of Barnes will meet in regular session to go into a closed session pursuant to State Statute 19.85(c) “considering employment, promotion, compensation or performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility.  The board will reconvene to the regular session immediately after the closed session.

Brustad gave an update on the progress with the assessment problem on David Hoberg’s property.  Lynn Divine of the County gave specific instructions for Mr. Hoberg to be able to combine his parcels and get the correct assessment for what he has.  He will need to have a survey done to get the county maps changed, and he will be doing that in the near future.  Brustad explained that when he gets that done it will still be the next year before the change takes effect.

Collyard explained that the person contracted for the janitorial position has decided not to continue because she was paying too much for insurance.  He said he contacted the person with the next higher bid and he will be doing the cleaning.

Collyard asked for a motion to go into closed session as noticed.  Motion (Webb/Porter) to go into closed session per Statute 19.85(c) “considering employment, promotion, compensation or performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility.   Roll call vote taken, all responded yes.  Motion carried.

The Board adjourned to the closed session at 3:50PM.

Motion (Porter/McGee) to adjourn the closed session and return to open session. Motion carried.  Discussion was limited to the above referenced statute with no action taken.

There was no other business to discuss, so Collyard asked for a motion to adjourn.

Motion (Porter/Meinke) to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 4:25PM.

Respectfully Submitted,

Elaine Brustad
