Old Business:

  1. Ticket Sales-Call people from last year’s list. Lu will get a list of those who bought tickets to Carol Pease and they will go over on whom to call. As it gets closer to the Winterfest, Lu will contact all those that are holding tickets to get the money and unsold tickets back.
  2. Prizes-Silent Auction Items. Quite a few items have been donated so far. More items are needed for both Bingo and Door Prizes, as well as for the Silent Auction.
  3. Winterfest Planning Meeting. Jon Harkness said that he would be willing to help at Winterfest. Carol Pease said that Sally would also help in the kitchen. Bob Campbell will also help us. We will have the beef sandwiches like last year. We will seek donations of bars and other types of desserts. We will have a meeting after the regular January 17th meeting, just before the event, to finalize all plans.
  4. Committee Reports
    1. Building- Mr. Ertle said he was still willing to work with BAHA on the building. He said he was not planning to build this coming year anyway and said he has some land on Lake Road that he could move the building to if necessary. Lu sent him a thank you for his offers of the land and the contents of the building.
    2. Land- The town appears to be up in the air about the land we had requested. They are concerned that the land might be needed for the new town complex. The town suggested that we put a building for storage or whatever we would need as a temporary building closer to the garage/ ambulance building. This would allow for more security and less expense for us as for roads, etc. The other land past the current town land is still held by the paper company and wouldn’t be available for several more years. Jon Harkness will try to make some contacts with Mosinee Paper Company to see about other lands such as the parcel on N and 27. He will get together with George Martin on this. Jon said that if we want to attract donors we have to think bigger. There was discussion on what we want for a building. Most museums are opened only part of the year.
    3. Other-The Tee Shirt Committee met and decided on the design and what colors we need for the tee shirts. Motion (Jon Harkness / Dave Pease) to go with the company in Hayward called Northshore Promotions. Call for discussion. We will order some more 2X Large as there are quite a few people who need that size, especially if the shirt is worn over another shirt. Motion carried.

New Business

  1. Correspondence, other- Jon Harkness discussed what resources we could use. The Archeology Departments of the colleges could help us on the elk project as well as early American history. We could ask for a representative to come to one of our meetings.
  2. Memberships and Survey Forms- Lu has gotten more surveys and memberships back. There are still quite a few who still haven’t renewed. She will contact those who have not renewed.
  3. Riverfest-Dave Pease will do a history of logging. Hopefully this would take place at the dam for more authenticity. Lu Peet will be in charge of the Authors and Artists area.  Gary Messer may want to do something with black powder. There will be more discussion at one of the next meetings.

Jon Harkness recalled some local history. He told a story from his youth when he found artifacts near Cranberry Lake. Kurt Kuhlman had emailed Carol about the dance hall on Y. It was called Ira’s Eau Claire Lake Pavilion. It is still there today Carol said.

Motion (Lu Peet / George Martin) to adjourn the meeting. Call for discussion. Motion carried. The next meeting will be held on Thursday January 17, 2008.

Respectfully submitted,

Lu Peet
