Old Business:
- VFW
land issues and offer- Duke Marten will have to do the surveying as he is
from Bayfield
County and there
seems to be a problem using surveyors from other counties, Dave Pease
said. Duke will get back to Dave on when he can do this.
- Authors
and Artists event and Riverfest-There was discussion on the fact that
there was too much going on at one time and several of the events were so
long that the people couldn’t attend other events. There was also
discussion on possibly changing the date to later in summer as June has
many schools still in session and many graduations, etc. The rain garden
was well attended. BAHA’s events went well, but we could have had more
people coming to our events. The people who had displays were pleased with
what we had. They had a chance to meet the other local artists and
authors. Carol Pease asked if BAHA might be able to get a copy of Jim
Hardy’s book for the BAHA collection of local authors. Lu Peet will check
with Mr. Hardy.
- BAHA
Status with the Wisconsin Historical Society-We have not heard from Jan
Seymour on or status in the Wisconsin Historical Society. Lu Peet will
contact Jan this next week.
- The
raffle tickets have been ordered and picked up. Lu Peet will get the
tickets distributed to the members when she sees them. We no longer will
send them by mail.
New Business:
- Flea
Market at the Town Hall July
12, 2008-Pie and Ice Cream Social-Lu Peet will get the food
for the event. There will be a list of all who will donate time and pies,
etc. We need about 24 pies. The Flea
Market and Pie Social will run from 9:00am
until 2:00pm. We will
ask the members to work packing up the items at the Pease’s on Friday
afternoon and also setting up outside on Friday night the 11th
and also to work the flea market sales on Saturday. The kitchen crew will
be called and we will need someone to do the pie sales as well as books,
etc. inside. Lu Peet will call the members on this. Carol Pease will get
the change for the outside sales and Lu Peet will get the change for the
Pie Social.
- There
will be another flea market on July 19th at the VFW. This was
not originally scheduled as one of our events this year, but if we have a
lot of stuff left over from the 12th sale we will participate
in that one.
There was discussion on the contamination site on Highway 27
and the Lake Road.
There was discussion if this land would be for sale. This will be looked into.
Quentin Ruprecht asked if we had sent a thank you note to
the Hartman family. Lu Peet reported that she had sent out thank you notes to
both the Hartman’s and the Ertel’s.
Lu Peet will send a copy of the new 2008 spreadsheet for
hours donated to all members, when the minutes are sent out.
Motion (Quentin Ruprecht / Bob Oberstar) to adjourn the meeting.
Call for discussion. Motion carried. The meeting was adjourned at 10:20am. The next meeting will be
held on July17, 2008 at 9:00am
at the VFW Hall.
Respectfully submitted,
Lu Peet
